April played home to two major industry events in the form of Google Cloud Next (Las Vegas) and the RSAC Conference (San Francisco). Perhaps unsurprisingly, AI dominated as a theme at both events.
At Google’s event the focus was on enterprise AI, as well as cloud and cloud security. (You can find our post-conference commercial intelligence roundup here: GCN 25 ITP conference deck). While for RSAC - which we covered as part of a massive Microsoft commercial campaign - various angles were considered, including how AI can actually help rather than hinder when it comes to organizational security efforts.
The recent, all-ecompassing power outage in Spain & Portugal had many assuming it was a cyber attack. The investigation into the exact cause is ongoing but suspicions there, in addition to the cyber attacks on M&S, The Co-Op and Harrods have people feeling quite nervous about what is possible and what may happen in the future.
Why it matters to the ITPro audience: The power outage that grounded all planes at Heathrow, coupled with recent, similar events in Spain/Portugal and the cyber attacks on big-name retailers will, has really upped the game for ITDMs. Previously tasked with BAU, innovation and protecting a company’s data and systems, they now have to worry about what they would do if something of a larger scape occurred. This has brought not just security, but resilience and backup/diaster recovery back to the fore. Why it matters to marketers: ITDMs are worried that the task at hand is bigger than anything they can confidently handle alone. They will want to hear from industry and government about what learnings have occurred from recent events and what proactive measures will be taken to strengthen our national security posture. They will also want to know what support they can get and which vendors and partners they can really trust when it matters most. This is a unique opportunity for those playing in these technology areas to shine and have meaningful conversations with existing and potential customers.
